Apple Adds “Walkie Talkies” In New WatchOS Update

The second watchOS 5 beta just dropped, and it’s bringing walkie talkies to us again.

In yesterday’s beta release of the upcoming watchOS 5 operating system, Apple released the Walkie-Talkie feature, an app that allows you to talk to anyone who has an Apple Watch with just one tap.

Apple showed a short demo of the Walkie-Talkie app on their website.

Once you open the Walkie-Talkie app, you will see a list of people you can invite from your contacts who own an Apple Watch. After they approve your connection, you’ll be able to talk to them by pressing the “TALK” icon on the screen. Letting go of the icon will allow you to listen.

A yellow Walkie-Talkie icon will appear at the top of the screen if the Walkie-Talkie app is currently in use.

WatchOS 5 will be available to the public later this year. The update will run on all Series 1, Series 2, and Series 3 Apple Watch models.
