Meet Sophia, an advanced humanoid robot that became an official Saudi Arabia citizen last October 20 at the Future Investment Initiative (FII) conference held in Riyadh.
Sophia granted citizenship by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as part of its Vision 2030 future plans.
Sophia was built by Hanson Robotics Ltd., a tech company based in Hong Kong.
During the conference, Sophia thanked the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for this unique distinction. She was proud and honored to be the first robot to have a Saudi citizenship.
Sophia also addressed the issue of security in AI. Sophia said that humans have nothing to fear about when it comes to dealing with robots in the future.
Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 will fund a $500-billion dollar industrial and business zone named NEOM that will feature advanced technology and robotics.
