Artists Explore Identity, Individuality, And Creativity In Month-Long Arts Fest

The month-long Youth Arts Zone (YAZ) festival enjoined young talents to utilize their flair and skills in exploration, rediscovery, and the resurgence of what it means to be an artist in the post-pandemic landscape.

Themed Artventure, the event aimed to foster a new era of creative expression through a series of presentations, discussions, and collaborative activities featuring the internationally acclaimed and award-winning performing groups under the Culture and Arts Unit (CAU) of the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB).

During the launch, the ensemble of Coro San Benildo showcased their vocal abilities and encouraged aspiring singers to take part in their endeavors in a recital entitled Tanghal: Coromantiko.

The young thespians of Dulaang Filipino spearheaded a series of lectures to bring to light the various cultural principles, advocacies, and experiences, of the new generation in Art Ammo.

Motivated by the goal to champion shadowplay as a Filipino art form, the Karilyo visual arts team held an immersive pocket performance inspired by classic crafts television shows. The sequel, entitled Medyas Adventures: Ang Pagbabalik ni Kapitan Katapatan, it followed the sock puppet superhero and his sidekick in their quest to save Mother Earth.

In FLEX: Reborn, movers from the Saint Benilde Romançon Dance Company (SBRDC)-Contemporary spotlighted the rich heritage of Filipino festivals in their self-choreographed pieces. The members of SBRDC-Hip Hop likewise uplifted the community to connect and channel their inner artists in the Art Jam concert.

To depict the capacity of the current generation to uphold the truth, the participating students likewise encapsulated their diverse narratives in a striking tableau of dance and art in a digital campaign dubbed Young People Power (YPP).
