The diversity of Filipino cuisine is one of its most appealing features. Undeniably, Filipinos have an undeniable taste preference between sweet, sour, and salty—the superiority of these tastes that can be found in the vast variety and diverse flavors of Philippine cuisine.

Given the inherently unique cooking techniques and Pinoy flavors that have emerged over the decades, it is no surprise that Filipino food is garnering attention all over the world. Some argue that Adobo is the best, some raise both hands for Lechon, while others believe that you can never go wrong with Sinigang.

Now that a nationwide event will take place internationally for a celebration of Filipino cuisine, people are given the chance to explore more of the diverse culinary scene of the Philippines.

Presented by the Philippine Department of Tourism (PDOT) and the Philippine Consulate General in Calgary, Canada is set to hold its first-ever Filipino Restaurant Month that will run from April 1st to the 30th, a festival that will allow Canadians to experience Filipino cuisine that will surely make them want to taste more.

During the month-long celebration of Filipino culture and cuisine, diners will be able to experience the unique tastes in food and beverages from various regions throughout the 7,641 islands of the country.

The collection of restaurants that will be showcasing Pinoy Taste includes 11 from Calgary, 7 in Toronto, 5 in Vancouver, and 4 located in Ottawa. The full list of participating restaurants will be released closer to the start of Filipino Restaurant Month.

“Participating restaurants will feature Filipino prix fixe menus that highlight the unique variety of Filipino food, ingredients, chefs, and restaurants throughout Canada,” stated in a press release.

In the said event, guests will get to taste everything related to Philippine Cuisine, including the non-arguably best tasting Adobo, and will get to experience the “Kamayan” communal-style finger food fest of delicious Filipino Food.

“Filipino Restaurant Month aims to introduce and promote the Philippines to the Canadian mainstream market as a destination for unique gastronomic experiences by featuring the rich Filipino cuisine and food as a cultural heritage through our partner restaurants across Canada”, says Soleil Tropicales, Tourism Attaché of Philippine Department of Tourism – San Francisco.

According to the Department of Tourism, to make the first-ever Filipino Restaurant month even more fun and exciting, all throughout the month-long celebration, diners can also look forward to winning a number of national and local prizes like 25 USD vouchers for an enjoyable vacation in the Philippines.

Filipino Restaurant Month aims to inspire Canadians to explore Filipino foods, developing a better appreciation for our culture as promoting Filipino Restaurants in various provinces in Canada encourages people to support local businesses suppliers.
