The World Happiness Report 2024, released by the University of Oxford’s Wellbeing Research Center in the United Kingdom, reveals that the Philippines has secured the 53rd spot, positioning itself as the second happiest country in Southeast Asia, after Singapore.
Following the Philippines in Southeast Asia are Vietnam at 54th, Thailand at 58th, Malaysia at 59th, Indonesia at 80th, Laos at 94th, Myanmar at 118th, and Cambodia at 119th.
This ranking marks a significant improvement for the Philippines, jumping from 76th place in 2023 to 53rd place in 2024 out of 137 countries. This current standing closely mirrors its position in the 2020 report.
Finland maintains its status as the happiest country globally for the seventh consecutive year, with Denmark, Iceland, Sweden, and Israel closely leading in the top five.
The rankings are derived from the Gallup World Poll, which measures happiness through life evaluation data collected from various countries between 2021 and 2023.
